- Subj: UFO Report, Denny, Fife, Scotland
- Head: Strange Ghostly Balloon Thought to be UFO
- Rptr: Ferguson C MacCleod
- ~Date: 28/04/95
-
- Denny has recently become one of the world's 'hot spots' for
- UFO and paranormal activity, which has brought several inter-
- nationally known UFO researchers and two television crews to
- the small Central Region town.
-
- However, even a cursory glance into the earlier and more rec-
- ent history of the country town will show an amazing story of
- UFO sightings, crop circles, and ghost sightings.
-
- The current story centres around a local forester and farmer,
- James X, who apparently encountered a 'large metallic balloon
- with lights' in a small clearing in the woods to the north of
- the town.
-
- 'It was rotating and seemed out of focus, as if I was seeing
- a mirage. But it was no mirage: My face and upper body still
- show the burns it gave me'
-
- And indeed, on being found face down by local children, and
- subsequently examined by a police surgeon, the burns on Mr Xs
- body were 'consistent with a very bad sunburn, or exposure to
- high intensity UV light'. The sun in this part of Scotland
- is not sufficient to have caused this.
-
- A few observers have pointed out that he may have been seeing
- the virtual image of a far-off sun or planet, focussed by some
- strange arrangement of gravity lenses, but this is not held to
- to a probably description.
-
- So, silent, rotating ballons in rural Scotland? UFOs?
